Refresh Kitchen Remodeling in Sacramento
Ranges reflect typical Sacramento-area projects at this tier, not a quote — final pricing is confirmed with a free in-home assessment.
If you like where your cabinets and appliances sit but the countertops, backsplash, and hardware are stopping your kitchen from feeling finished, a Refresh is built for you. This tier keeps your existing cabinet boxes and kitchen layout exactly where they are and replaces the surfaces and finishes that show wear the fastest — laminate countertops that have chipped or stained, a backsplash that dates the room, cabinet hardware that's loose or outdated, and a coat of paint that's seen fifteen years of cooking.
This is the right scope for a kitchen that functions fine day to day but looks tired next to the rest of your remodeled home, or for sellers who want a kitchen that shows well without a full gut job before listing.
New Surfaces and Finishes, Same Footprint
The centerpiece of most Refresh projects is the countertop swap. We template your existing cabinet layout and fabricate new counters in your choice of material — quartz, granite, or an upgraded laminate depending on where you land in the budget range. Because the cabinet boxes stay put, there's no rebuilding the base structure; we're replacing what sits on top of it.
Backsplash tile gets replaced or added at the same time, since it's usually removed along with the old countertop anyway. We install ceramic, porcelain, or natural stone tile depending on your style, and this is often where a kitchen picks up the most visual change for the dollar. Cabinet doors and drawer fronts stay in place, but hardware — pulls, knobs, hinges — gets swapped throughout, and cabinet exteriors get painted or professionally refinished if the wood is solid but the finish has faded or yellowed.
Sinks and faucets are typically swapped in place using the existing plumbing rough-in — no relocation, no new lines. The same goes for lighting: existing fixtures get replaced with updated pendant or flush-mount options wired into the existing electrical boxes. Appliances stay as they are unless you want to swap one into the same footprint, like a new range or dishwasher that fits the existing cutout.

What to Expect
Typical timeline: 1-2 weeks
The work itself moves fast once materials arrive — most Refresh projects are 5 to 8 working days on site. The longer lead time is usually the countertop: after we template your kitchen, quartz and granite fabrication typically takes 1-2 weeks before install day, so we schedule demo and installation around when your slab is ready rather than starting demo first and waiting with no counters.
On install day, your kitchen will be out of commission for cooking for a day or two while old counters come out and new ones go in, along with backsplash and paint work. Because we're not touching plumbing lines or the layout, there's no inspection or permit delay to build into the schedule for most Refresh projects.
Is This Tier Right for You?
A Refresh makes sense if your cabinets are solid — no water damage, doors that still close properly, a layout that works for how you cook — and the thing bothering you every day is how the surfaces look and feel. It's also a smart move before selling a home where the kitchen is functional but visibly dated.
If your cabinets are falling apart, you've always hated the layout, or you want more storage and counter space than the current footprint allows, a Refresh won't fix that — you'll be happier stepping up to our Mid-Range Remodel, which replaces cabinets and flooring along with countertops. And if you're also planning to move plumbing, add an island, or open the kitchen to another room, that's a Full Renovation project, not a Refresh.
The honest limit of this tier: it changes how your kitchen looks, not how it's laid out or how much storage you have. If the bones are good, that trade-off makes a lot of sense for the price.
