Fully Custom Cabinets in Sacramento
Ranges reflect typical Sacramento-area projects at this tier, not a quote — final pricing is confirmed with a free in-home assessment.
Fully custom cabinetry is built to your exact specifications — not selected from a catalog of standard sizes. This is the right tier if you're changing your kitchen's layout, working with an unusual space (angled walls, a low ceiling, an oversized island), or you want specific control over wood species, finish, and construction details that stock and semi-custom lines don't offer.
It's also the tier for cabinetry work outside the kitchen — closet systems, fireplace built-ins, and outdoor kitchens with BBQ islands all fall under fully custom, since none of those are standard-sized applications. If you're building around a specific space rather than fitting cabinets into an existing footprint, this is where that project lives.
What's Included
Every box is built to the exact dimensions of your space, so there are no filler panels or compromises to fit a fixed sizing grid. You choose wood species — maple, cherry, oak, walnut, among others — and finish (stained, painted, or a mixed finish across upper and lower cabinets), plus door and drawer profiles down to the detail: inset vs. overlay doors, dovetailed drawer boxes, specific hardware placement.
Construction quality is a real difference at this tier, not just a marketing point. Inset door construction, where doors sit flush within the face frame rather than overlaying it, requires tighter tolerances and is generally only offered at the custom level. Drawer boxes are typically solid wood with dovetail joinery rather than stapled particleboard, and boxes are built to handle the exact appliance and hardware specs you've chosen rather than a generic cutout.
This tier also covers non-standard applications: a kitchen island with a waterfall edge and integrated seating, a walk-in pantry with fully custom shelving, a closet system built around an odd-shaped room, or an outdoor kitchen cabinet base designed to hold up to weather. Anything that needs to be designed around your specific space rather than assembled from stock parts falls here.

- Full choice of wood species, finish, and door construction (inset or overlay)
- Solid wood, dovetailed drawer boxes as standard
- Covers non-kitchen applications: closets, built-ins, outdoor kitchens

What to Expect
Typical timeline: 4–8 weeks fabrication, then 1–3 weeks installation
Fully custom cabinetry has the longest lead time of the three tiers by a wide margin — typically 4 to 8 weeks for fabrication once the design and materials are finalized, since every piece is being built specifically for your project rather than pulled from stocked sizing. We'll set that timeline expectation clearly upfront so it doesn't come as a surprise mid-project.
Design takes longer too: expect more time in the planning phase to finalize layout, wood species, finish samples, and hardware before an order goes in, since changes after fabrication starts are costly and slow. Once cabinets arrive, installation generally runs 1 to 3 weeks depending on scope — a full kitchen takes longer than a single built-in or closet system.
Is This Tier Right for You?
Fully custom is the right fit when a standard sizing grid genuinely can't do what you need — an unusual room shape, a layout change that requires specific dimensions, a wood species or finish that stock and semi-custom lines don't carry, or a built-in application like a closet, fireplace surround, or outdoor kitchen that doesn't come in off-the-shelf sizes.
It's the wrong fit, and an overspend, if your kitchen is a fairly standard rectangular layout and your priority is just getting new cabinets in place. Stock or semi-custom will get you plywood boxes and a wide style selection for meaningfully less money and a shorter wait, and most kitchens don't actually need custom sizing to look and function well.
If you're not sure which side of that line you're on, that's a fair question to bring to the initial walkthrough — we'll measure your space and tell you plainly whether custom sizing is solving a real problem or just adding cost. Homeowners who are set on a specific wood species or an inset door look, though, won't get that from a stock or semi-custom line at any price.
