    Mid-Range Bathroom Remodeling in Sacramento

    $20,000 – $40,000typical Sacramento-area estimate

Ranges reflect typical Sacramento-area projects at this tier, not a quote — final pricing is confirmed with a free in-home assessment.

This is the tier for homeowners whose bathroom needs more than a cosmetic touch-up but doesn't need its walls moved. If your shower is old, your tub is cracked or just something you never use, or your tile has seen better days, a Mid-Range Remodel replaces the shower or tub, tile, vanity, flooring, and lighting — all within your existing footprint, so there's no reframing or plumbing relocation involved.

It's the tier most Sacramento homeowners land on, because it addresses the parts of the bathroom that actually wear out — the wet area and the surfaces around it — without the cost and time of a layout change.

    What's Included in a Mid-Range Bathroom Remodel

The shower or tub is the centerpiece of this tier. We fully demo the existing unit and install a new shower pan or tub, then build out a properly waterproofed tile surround — this is where a real waterproof membrane goes in before a single tile is set, which is the difference between a shower that lasts decades and one that leaks behind the walls in a few years. If you want the low-maintenance look without grout lines, we also install grout-free quartz or solid-surface shower wall systems as an alternative to tile.

Vanities at this tier typically get a quartz or solid-surface countertop paired with a larger cabinet than what a Refresh would include, often with better storage and a furniture-style finish. Floor tile is replaced throughout the room, and we size and place a new exhaust fan correctly if your current ventilation isn't keeping up — undersized bathroom fans are one of the most common causes of recurring mold, so we don't just reuse whatever was there before.

Lighting typically gets upgraded beyond a single vanity fixture — recessed can lights, a properly placed vanity light, and sometimes a dedicated shower light. If a tub-to-shower conversion fits within the existing footprint without moving walls or major plumbing, it's often achievable at this tier; conversions that require reframing the floor for a curbless, zero-threshold entry move into Full Renovation scope.

    • Full shower or tub replacement with a waterproofed tile or quartz surround
    • New vanity with quartz or solid-surface countertop
    • New floor tile throughout and properly sized ventilation
    • Updated lighting, including recessed and vanity fixtures

    What to Expect

    Typical timeline: 3-5 weeks

Most Mid-Range Remodels run three to five weeks. The first week is demo and any framing repair needed once the old shower or tub is out — this is also when we sometimes find water damage in the subfloor or wall framing that wasn't visible before, which we'll flag before proceeding rather than covering it up.

Waterproofing comes next, and this step needs real cure time before tile can go over it — rushing this is exactly how shower leaks happen years later, so we don't skip it to save a few days. Once the membrane has cured, tile setting, grouting, vanity installation, and flooring typically take the bulk of the remaining schedule, with fixtures, lighting, and punch list items wrapping up the final week.

Is This Tier Right for You?

This tier is right for you if your shower or tub is genuinely worn out, cracked, dated, or you're just tired of looking at it — and your bathroom's overall layout works fine as-is. It's also the right call if you want a real waterproofing upgrade behind new tile, not just a cosmetic swap in front of an aging shower pan.

Step down to the Refresh if your shower and tub are actually fine and your real complaint is the vanity, floor, or fixtures — there's no reason to pay for a shower replacement you don't need. Step up to the Full Renovation if you want a curbless walk-in shower conversion, need to relocate plumbing fixtures, or your bathroom's actual layout is the problem (too cramped, poor door placement, no linen storage) rather than just its finishes.

One thing worth deciding early: if you're on the fence about a curbless shower versus a standard walk-in, mention it during your estimate. A standard curbed shower often fits Mid-Range scope, but a true zero-threshold entry usually requires floor reframing for drainage, which pushes the project into Full Renovation territory.
